Powering LEDs through a DC based power source eliminates the loss of efficiency that comes from converting AC to DC. Instead of having an AC-DC conversion for every fixture a central high efficiency AC-DC conversion is used, resulting in significant decreases in energy use and costs. This also allows for LED lights to live up to their lifetime potential and require less maintenance and replacement. The system also supports USB power distribution creating the capability for USB wall outlets.
